Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 11, 2026

Short version: we collect the email you give us and (in the app) the photos and messages you share with Jin during a repair or a claim. We use them to fix your thing and to make Jin better at fixing things. We don't sell any of it, ever. The longer version is below.

1. What this policy covers

This policy covers the SokoJin website (sokojin.life) and the SokoJin iOS app, both the DIY repair experience and SokoJin for Hosts. It's written by a human and meant to be readable. If anything's unclear, email hello@sokojin.life.

SokoJin is currently in an invite-only alpha. Alpha builds collect more product-improvement data than a normal release will, that's the deal of being an early tester, and it's spelled out below.

2. What we collect on the website

  • Email address, if you join the waitlist or email us directly.
  • Waitlist survey answers, if you fill them in.
  • Privacy-friendly analytics (page views, referrer, country) via a service that does not use cookies or fingerprinting.
  • Outbound link clicks to Amazon and other partners, so we know which guides are useful.

The website doesn't use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or third-party advertising trackers.

3. What we collect in the DIY app

  • A random device identifier created when you install the app. It's ours, not Apple's advertising ID, we never touch ad tracking.
  • Your email address, if you redeem an invite code and choose to give it.
  • Photos and voice notes you send to Jin during a repair, plus your messages.
  • Your repair sessions, the diagnosis, the steps, your chat with Jin, and your answers about how it went ("It worked" / "Still stuck" / "Wrong part").
  • Feedback signals (thumbs up / down on Jin's suggestions and images).
  • How you use the app, screens viewed, steps completed, videos watched, via Mixpanel, tied to your device identifier. No ad networks, no cross-app tracking.
  • Crash and performance logs via Sentry.

Here's the honest part: we keep your repair sessions, including photos, Jin's guidance, and your outcome answers. That record is how Jin learns, a repair that worked (or didn't) teaches the next repair. During the alpha this is on by default. If you want a session , or everything, deleted, one email and it's gone (see Section 7).

4. What we collect in SokoJin for Hosts

  • Property details you add (name, rooms).
  • Baseline and evidence photos, stored securely. We deliberately preserve each photo's metadata (date, time, integrity fingerprint), that's the point: your evidence needs to hold up with Airbnb or an insurer.
  • Claim details, descriptions, dollar estimates, receipts you attach, guest messages you edit, and outcomes (paid, partial, denied).
  • Claim packet activity, when a packet is generated, exported, or handed off to Airbnb.

Hosts data is the product, not a by-product: your evidence vault is retained until you delete it or ask us to. Deleted photos leave your packets immediately; a tamper-evident audit trail of the deletion is kept, because that's what makes the evidence credible.

5. AI processing

Photos and descriptions are sent to our AI partners, Google (Gemini) and Anthropic (Claude), to generate diagnoses, repair steps, guide images, and damage assessments. They process it under their API terms, which prohibit using your data to train their general models. The learning that makes Jin distinctly better, which guidance actually led to a fixed faucet or a paid claim, happens on our side, from the outcome records described above.

6. Who we share data with

  • Google (Gemini) and Anthropic (Claude), AI processing, as above.
  • Mixpanel, app usage analytics.
  • Sentry, crash reporting.
  • Railway and Cloudflare, where our servers and photo storage live.
  • Mux, streams the videos in the inspiration feed (they see standard playback data).
  • Resend, waitlist, invite, and contact emails.
  • Airtable, waitlist sign-ups.
  • Plausible Analytics, privacy-friendly website page-view data.
  • Amazon, only when you click an affiliate link (Amazon then sees the visit, per their policy).

We don't sell your data, and we don't share it for advertising purposes. Period.

7. Retention & deletion

  • Repair sessions and outcome records: kept while your account is active, deleted on request.
  • Hosts evidence vault: kept until you delete it, it's your evidence.
  • Analytics and crash logs: kept in aggregate; per-user records deleted on request.
  • Backups can take up to 30 days to fully cycle out after a deletion.

8. Cookies

The website doesn't use tracking cookies. We may use a single functional cookie to remember if you've dismissed a banner. The app uses only the tokens necessary for you to stay signed in.

9. Your rights

Email hello@sokojin.life from the address you signed up with (or include your invite code) and we will:

  • Show you what we have on you.
  • Delete it on request, no questions.
  • Export it as a JSON file if you want a copy.

10. Children

SokoJin is not directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

11. Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects how we handle existing data, we'll email everyone on the waitlist and every alpha tester before the change takes effect.
